Recent News Fifth Ranked Bruins to Face Colorado State, Santa Clara in 2012 - Dec 29, 2011
On top of a packed schedule in the west, the Bruins will fly to Denver, CO in April to play preseason #3 Colorado and take on preseason #1 Colorado State in a rematch of last year's national championship. UCLA will be led by senior tri-captains, Isabel Angell, Morgan Oberstein, and Michelle Rice, along with WCLA All-American attacker, Allie Simpson and WCLA All-Tournament midfielder, Allie Roe. Returning all twelve starters, five All-League players (WWLL Division 1), and WCLA All-Tournament goalie, Devon Comito, the Bruins are aiming for another successful season in 2012. UCLA To Host Annual Girls' Clinic on January 21 - Dec 10, 2011
The clinic is designed to prepare players for the next stage of their competitive play, whether it be at the high school or collegiate level. Players will be grouped based on experience, age, and school. This clinic offers a great opportunity to improve and develop participants' lacrosse skills with close, individual attention from the UCLA coaching staff, current players, and alumni. Immediately following the clinic, participants will watch a full length exhibition game between the WCLA National Championship Finalist Bruins and their crosstown rivals, the USC Trojans! UCLA Women's Lacrosse continues to welcome students with ANY level of experience throughout fall quarter. You can have 8 years or none at all -- if you want to play, there's a spot for you on one of our two full teams. Tuesday 5-7PM The Bruins compete in the Western Women's Lacrosse League, the premiere club lacrosse league in the WCLA. In 2011, the Bruins finished second in the nation at the WCLA National Tournament in Scottsdale, AZ.

Mara played for UCLA's B Team for three years and is excited to start her first year of coaching. Mara plans to graduate from UCLA in the winter of 2011 with a BA in anthropology and a minor in environmental systems and society. This fall will mark Sam's fourth year involved in UCLA Women's Lacrosse. She played for the B team as a freshman and captained the team as a sophomore, leading the division in points in 2010. In the 2011 season, she played midfield and attack for UCLA's A team. Sam has been awarded Academic All-American all three years playing at UCLA. She plans to graduate from UCLA at the end of December with a major in Psychology and a minor in Linguistics. Mara is a California native who began her lacrosse career in Orinda at Miramonte High School, while Sam hails from Arizona, where she played her first lacrosse at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix. They are thrilled to continue their involvement with UCLA Women's Lacrosse as the coaches of the 2011-2012 UCLA B Team. UCLA Storms Through the WCLA National Tournament - May 8, 2011
The 9th seeded Bruins powered through their first game against 8th seed Michigan, coming out on top 15-11 on Wednesday night. The following evening, UCLA took down the tournament's #1 seed, Colorado in a stunning upset during which they never once lost the lead, winning 11-7. The Bruins are excited to welcome Mara Ludmer and Sam Slama as the newest additions to the 2011-2012 coaching staff. The co-coaches will replace former B Team head coach, Kate Fleming, who recently moved abroad.
After coming up just short in the first round of the WWLL Championships in April, the Bruins barely expected a bid to this year's national tournament, let alone to finish second in the nation. But that is exactly what they did this past week in Scottsdale, AZ.
